Colon cancer ? - stage three colon cancer

The family of my uncle has a history of colon cancer. Three family members died. I know he has cancer and is obviously very sick. I do not think my father had heard correctly, but spoke of a level 7 (I think) and had a lot worse. What could be the stage of colorectal cancer, which can be treated?
